Jason
Alexander takes us on a journey of our modern landscape.
The maps of his cities and countrysides are laid out
in brilliant neon and romantic moonlight. The viewer
wanders avenues of exuberant patterns which lend a
sense of playful motion and vitality.
His
interiors dramatically collide with that of the outside
producing a unique and wonderful vision of life.
Much
can be said about the influence of Cezanne and the
Fauvists, but is Jason Alexander not the rightful
heir to M.C. Escher's mysterious world. However, gone
is Escher's mathematically rigid structures and austere
architecture, now replaced by an art of expressive
colour and warmth, reflecting the idealism of both
the city and country.
From
dawn to dusk we are entranced by his surrealist perspective,
which opens up to the deft and playful artist behind
each brushstroke.
Born
in Toronto, Canada, Jason Alexander began painting
at the age of eight, and received formal training
at the Ontario College of Art & Design. After spending
five years as an art director in the advertising industry,
he now devotes all his time to painting.
Over
the last five years, Jason's work has met with increased
popularity and public recognition in the United States,
Canada and Europe - from prestigious corporation and
charitable organizations, to private collectors.
Jason
has recently completed his largest work, a 33 X 11
foot painting for Covenant House, an organization
dedicated to helping homeless youth. Currently on
outdoor display in Toronto, this stunning showpiece
will tour several cities over the next several years.
